UV nail gel

Not everyone has naturally beautiful and strong nails. If you either want to strengthen your natural nails or simply use color or nail art, there is no way around UV nail gel. In this article, we answer the most frequently asked questions.

What is UV gel?

UV gel is the perfect solution for nail modeling: professional results, easy application and many different nail design options. You don't have to worry about restrictions in everyday nail care because the gel is extremely stable.

The nail structure achieves its long durability and high resistance by curing under the LED or UV lamp. This is why it is somewhat more difficult to remove gel nails. The model layer must be filed down or removed with a milling machine. However, you can enjoy your nail art with nail gel until the nails grow back and require a refill.

The advantages of nail gel

Nail gels give problem nails optimum reinforcement. With nail tips or the stencil, you can create nails as long as you like. And when it comes to design, UV gel leaves nothing to be desired. By applying several layers, the fingernails become incredibly stable and resistantso that they are completely protected from external influences.

Nail gels can also score points with acrylic and fiberglass, the other variants of nail modeling. Although the nails are significantly thicker than acrylic nails due to the gel coating, gel is clearly superior to acrylic modeling in terms of handling. Perfect for nail design beginners. Because the gel first has to harden under the UV lamp, there is more time to shape and design the nails. Small mistakes can be corrected more quickly. There are also no unpleasant odors as with acrylic.

UV gel - what to consider

UV nail gel is always applied in several layers. Furthermore, the gels do not dry on their own, but must first harden under the UV lamp. However, this means that the nail design lasts much longer than any nail polish.

Healthy nails are a prerequisite for modeling. But even if you don't have them, emmi®NAIL has nail gels that are perfectly tailored to the needs of problem nails. We recommend our Futureline series, which has a high elasticity thanks to its fiberglass content.

What is the difference between UV gel, UV acrylic gel and acrylic?

UV gel, acrylic and UV acrylic gel - it's easy to lose track. In principle, all of these products are designed to build up artificial fingernails, but they differ in terms of handling and results. They all make the nails resistant, but acrylic clearly has the edge here. In addition, the fingernails do not become as thick with acrylic modeling as with nail gel and therefore look more natural.

On the other hand, acrylic is somewhat more difficult to handle than the gel alternative and is particularly problematic for beginners because acrylic nails are based on a two-component system that requires practice, skill and careful handling.

UV acrylic gel is perfect for anyone who can't decide between the two, as it combines the advantages of nail gel and acrylic in one product. Acrylic gels are easy to work with because they harden under the UV lamp and give a wafer-thin application.

What products are needed to apply UV gel yourself?

The good thing about gels is that they are easy to use, so you can conjure up your dream nail at home and become your own nail designer. Swing the brush - and off you go!

You will need the following products for gel modeling in your home nail salon:

  • Nail gel: base, build-up, color and sealing gels for all phases of nail modeling or a 1-phase gel
  • a UV or LED lamp under which the nails harden
  • additional accessories such as disinfectant, cell wipes, cleaner, files, buffers and brushes

In our range, amateurs and nail salon professionals will find a large selection of gel systems for a wide variety of needs. We also have special toenail gel available for you. If you are looking for special French gels, you will also find what you are looking for in our online store. Of course, you can also buy UV color gels from us - thanks to the huge selection, emmi®NAIL has the right product for everyone!

If you want to lengthen your nails, you will need tips or templates in addition to the fingernail gel, depending on the method. But don't worry: the emmi®NAIL online store has all the products you need - be it color gels, special brushes for French manicures or products for glitter effects.

what types of gel are available?

Color gels, camouflage gels, LED gels, stamping gels: the many different nail gels available in the emmi®NAIL online store may seem confusing at first glance. Basically, the gels can be divided according to their possible uses.

  • Priming gel - The first step in any nail modeling is a primer. You need a base gel for this. These gels ensure that the modeling adheres well to the nail.
  • Build-upgel - Whether you want to lengthen, beautify or strengthen the nails: This is what the build-up gels are for, which make up the actual nail modeling.
  • Color gels - These gels add color to your nails. Whether full cover or French: there are no limits to your imagination here. The color gels are applied over the build-up.
  • Sealing gel - The sealing gel adds shine to the nails at the end. The sealant provides optimum protection for the nails and gives the manicure the finishing touch.
  • One gel for all layers - 1-phase gel

A manicure is even easier with a 1-phase gel. This gel can be used for all phases of the manicure. However, the 3-in-1 application means that not all the properties of the other gels are as pronounced and sometimes the gel does not adhere as well. Whatever you choose, you can buy gel for nails cheaply and in a huge selection in the emmi®NAIL online store.

What is possible with UV gel?

Nail gels can be used in different ways for manicures. That's why they have become a must-have for many women.

  • Gel to embellish
An attractive nail design - whether simple, artistically decorated, gaudy or elegant: nail gels have become an indispensable part of nail art and turn nails into real eye-catchers. If you like your nails to be colorful, opt for a color gel in your favorite color. Glitter gels make nails sparkle, 3D gels add a new dimension to nail art and thermal gels create a fascinating play of colors. You can also get the right nail gels for elegant French nails.
  • Gel for lengthening
Long fingernails in your desired shape can be easily created thanks to UV gels. To lengthen your nails with gel, you can either work with tips or stencils. However, using stencils requires a little practice.
  • Gel to strengthen
Nail gels give brittle and splintering nails tremendous stability. They cover up imperfections in no time at all. To make discoloration disappear, we recommend one of the Emmi® nail cover gels. This will give your nails a completely natural look if desired. Beautiful, well-groomed nails and hands are possible even with problem nails.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about UV gel

  • How long does UV gel last on the nails?
Gel fingernails last much longer than other forms of manicure. Exactly how long they last depends on various influencing factors: the individual condition of the natural nails and how quickly they grow back. On average, a refill is due after around three to five weeks.
  • Gel nails, when to use which gel?
This depends on what you plan to do with your nails. We have put together various instructions and numerous tips in our gel nails guide.
  • Can I also use UV gel without a UV lamp?
No, curing under the UV or alternatively UV/LED lamp triggers a chemical reaction in the plastics it contains, which is a basic requirement for a resistant result.
  • How long does UV gel need to cure under the UV lamp?
The time that the gel for nails needs to cure differs from product to product. This is due to the different pigmentation of the individual gels. However, we have specified the curing time for each gel.
